Sunday 23 september at 6 pm at Gallery Marconi opening evening of With or without you. The first event in the 2007/08 season will be STOP, PLEASE! by Maicol and Mirco, with critics by Paola D’Andrea.

The endsight of Maicol and Mirco in their work is the strange, the incredible, the different, the freak. The canvasses tell of suicide, difficult relationships and crossing the threshold of what society calls “normal”.

“Irreverent, aggressive, caustic. There is a story behind these merciless characters. The vocabulary used is a throwback to the comics of the 1980's which saw a strong french influence especially in Italy.

These sketchings found in the exhibition come from another wandering journey. Contrary, because this time they have found space in big canvasses and jump out from the work of a digital brush to find a room where they can rest on paper. They are thoughts that give an outlet to manuale ability of the artist, who can still find his “un-technological” way in this machine dominated world. The artists have choosen to watch their world through a lens mounted back to front. Are we not forced every day to be somewhere we don't want to be? Maicol and Mirco have found their way to be there, on the other side of the barricade with their weapons sharp and ready to hit a new target”. (Paola D'Andrea)

With or without you is the title that in the season 2007/08 gathers the exhibitions at Gallery Marconi. This title at first glance might to some seem a bit snob like to say that if you are here or not our work continues anyway, but this is just the first impression because in reality it's not like this at all.

This project is dedicated, and to say thank you, to all the people who over the years have collaborated, partecipated or just simply stood by us with their good whishes.

With or without you would not have come about if it wasn't for the way that Gallery Marconi has worked in these years. Artists, critics, curators have all left their mark.

With or without you is a net that catches different ideas and projects and then points them in a common direction, a walk in contemporary art.
