“Lincoln’s Road” is a traveling art exhibition created by Chuck Levitan.  Included are giant 6’ x 10’ charcoal portrait drawings of Lincoln, created in 1976.  These drawings were first exhibited under President Carter’s administration and were also shown at the U.S. Courthouse in New York City and the H.E.W. Building in Washington, D.C.   The Exhibit now includes 60 new works which are collages and photomontages of Lincoln’s family, friends, adversaries and historic figures of the time.

“Bicentennial Banners”, published by the Chuck Levitan Gallery of New York, was created by twenty important American artists, including Marisol, Will Barnet, Romare Bearden, Chaim Gross and Milton Glaser for this country’s Bicentennial..  This exhibit has traveled around the world to over 40 countries to critical acclaim.  They were also exhibited at the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, D.C. and toured the country with the Smithsonian Institute.  This will be the first time, in over 30 years, that the banners will be on exhibition in the Nation’s Capitol.

The Exhibit will be from February 3 to February 28 at Georgetown University Law Center, McDonough Hall, 600 New Jersey Avenue NW, Washington, D.C.

Chuck Levitan was born on July 4th, 1942 in the Nation’s Capitol.  A pioneer of SOHO, he opened the Chuck Levitan Gallery in 1973, and for 25 years, his landmark Gallery exhibited artists from around the world.  He  won the prestigious First Place “CANNON PRIZE” in 1996 from the National Academy in New York City.
